Resurrection and DECENT The icon was painted during 19th century, in Central Russia. Egg tempera, gesso on wood panel with raised borders or “kovcheg” , two splints on the back. The center top icon shows Christ rising from the tomb flanked by angels and myrrh bearing women. Below, Christ descends into Hell and raises Adam and Eve and the Old Testament patriarchs, prophets and kings. 10 ˝” x 12 Ľ” (27 x 31cm.)
